Though it does not explicitly say so, I think it is fairly safe to assume, considering the photo is of her in her front door, that Colin Espiner has gone to interview her, this is a long way from sticking out a press release telling every one she’s disappointed that she hasn’t been able to get a public service posting, this is her replying too a reporters questions.

Compare this with the National Party tapes. Had this been a press conference or a press release, there would have been very little fuss. What they said was in the context of what is being said to National Party insiders, and that’s why it’s a big deal, they are being two faced about their policy.

What National did would have been ok if they had sent it out in a press release, what Georgian Beyer said would not have been ok if it was sent out in a press release, its as simple as that.

All ways a good laugh over on kiwi blog, faux out rage over human rights abuses on china, who ever would have thought? looks like its only wrong when communists do it, but thats not  suprising is it?

While the human rights abuses in China are pretty discusting, I just dont think that withdrawing, or not forming a free trade deal in the first place is going to make a single bit of difference, perhaps what will make a difference is the 1800 skilled workers allowed to come here every year, perhaps they might take something away from thier time in New Zealand that has a positive effect on things back in China.

I’m a left leaning liberal but…

First I must point out that I do not know Sacha Coburn, so I could well be wrong but this just stinks. This is the worst kind of lying, the liberal position on this is very very simple, a right to be free from violence. The supposed “right” to hit a child only exists so long as the law allows it, quite simply it is assault. But Sacha Coburns comments are just plain dishonest, she is clearly not a left leaning liberal in this situation, she is just claiming so for effect.

Taking the most neutral point of view that I can, I’m happy to acknowledge that no one way is defiantly correct. In this situation, it is just not right for her to claim that left leaning liberals should support re-instating section 59. 

To claim to be a left leaning liberal, she has, hopefully, carefully weighed up both the conservative model and the liberal model, then chosen the liberal model, while hopefully acknowledging the criticism of that model from the conservatives. That is fine, what is not fine is then going and supporting what is clearly a conservative cause. She is only claiming the left leaning liberal part to try to gain support from the group that clearly shouldn’t and doesn’t support her. Shame on her. 

 In other freespeech news, the leader of The Free Speech Coalition, spoilt rich brat Cameron Slater has thrown a tantrum and chucked his toys out of the cot and is threathening the standard with defmation, thats not really in the spirit of free speach is it?

 Prehaps regular bloggers shoudl go a little light of the right for a while, they are obviously having difficulty adjusting to thier new found competition in the blogshpere.

The son of murdered Tokoroa school teacher Lois Dear believes the National parties DNA proposal has a lot of merit and will act as a deterrent for criminals.

Kevin McNeil says it appears National has put a lot of consideration into this policy and he believes it will act as a deterrent and mean ultimately mean those on the data-base will think seriously before committing more crimes, but he adds wistfully, “If ever they do think”.

Heres a good place to start. Obviously they don’t think, the vast majority or murders are caught, 81 percent of murders in the last 10 years have been solved, and if and 80% change of spending 15-20 years in prision isn’t enough to make them think, then I dont know is?

“Mums killer Whetu TeHiko was apprehended quickly due to a prior voluntary DNA sample, if this was not the case mums murderer may still be at large”.

Kevin says DNA samples should not be any problem for those that don’t commit crimes. “For those that do this proposal will endeavor to stop repeat offending, and this I believe has got to be good for 95% of law abiding New Zealanders”.

Was the national policy for those arrested for, or convicted of any imprisonable crime, wasn’t made overly clear was it? bit of a theme really. If law abiding citizens, who have only been accused of a crime will have thier dna put on record then yes they do have something to fear. Why not apply this to the section 59 repeal, put a camera in every family home, if they dont smack, they have nothing to fear. One only needs to look to the UK too see the government abusing the DNA data base.

Kevin is extremely angry at the Civil Liberties and Green Party for opposing Nationals policy saying they always appear to be on the side of the criminals.

Actullay they putting reducing crime before lust from revenge, something the sensible sentancing trust coudl learn from!

“Keith Locke the party you are aligned with is only there with a mere 5% party vote, why don’t you make a noise toward the good and safety of all New Zealanders, tax payers are your providers not the criminal fraternity”.

Excuse me? Criminals dont pay tax? sorry but DNA isn’t going to catch white collar criminals, oh wait thats the good type of crime, silly me! oh wait I see now, tax payers is one of those silly conservative catch phrases, surely citizens woudl have been appropriate? but since were on the topic of tax, shouldn’t it be the governments job to get the best value it can for the money spent on crime?

“Good on you John Key and the National party for committing toward a hard line on crime, one can only hope if you are elected the hard line on crime will be implemented. All of New Zealand will back you – apart from the Civil Liberties and Greens of course”.

Well there will be plenty more crime for your beloved hard line approach to tackle  fumble, of course that woudl be a good thing for the sensible sentancing trust woudlnt it? you get to punish even more criminals! how about that!

People like these two make me sick. I am not scared of crime, I feel safe on the streets at night in most areas, and dont have a problem avoiding the areas in which I dont feel safe. But people like this, and people like garth mcviccar, they promote policies that promote crime, that makes me sick, purely to satisfy thier own lust for revenge they promote policies that make New Zealand a more dangerous place for every body else, to me that is not acceptable, it has to stop. Please ask who’s siding with the criminals now?
